Oxidized Bitumen 75/25
Oxidized Bitumen 75/25 is a semi-solid grade of pure petroleum bitumen produced by blowing air through an asphalt flux. Oxidized Bitumen is also known as blown bitumen 75/25 or blown asphalt 75/25. Its grade’s unique physical properties can be used for a variety of purposes in the construction industry. Blown asphalt 75/25 is made from petroleum bitumen by blowing asphalt 60/70 with extremely hot air. The numbers represent the softening point and penetration midpoints of the material, respectively.
The softening point value is determined by ASTM D36 and is measured in degrees Celsius using the Ring and Ball method. According to IP49 or ASTM-D5, the penetration value is 1/10 mm. This industrial product has primarily “solid” properties at ambient temperatures and offers exceptional adhesive and waterproofing characteristics once it is applied hot and left to settle and cool.
Oxidized Bitumen 75/25 Applications
Blown asphalt 75/25 has several applications in different sections, including:
- Production of chemicals, fuels, paints, lacquers, varnishes, paper-pulp-boards
- Textile processing
- Road construction, pavement construction, crack sealing, and repairment, etc.
- Construction, roofing, and civil engineering industries
- Sealing and insulating buildings
- Production of adhesives
- As a building material additive
- As a dust-binding, insulating, and impregnating agent
- Production of rubber and plastic products
- Paving
- Corrosion protection of metals in asphalt-based paints
- Lining public works structures
- As adhesives in electrical laminates
- As a base for synthetic turf
- Waterproofing and corrosion resistance enhancements in pipe coating
- Portland cement pavement
- Hydraulic applications
- Manufacturing of paint
- Caulking, mastics, and damp proofing
- Insulation and isolation of bitumen membrane sheet
- Car undercoating and the automobile industry
- As a base for vehicle undercoating materials
- As an excellent waterproofing, dust proofing, and noise proofing agent for automobile undercoating
How to Use Blown Asphalt 75/25
To achieve flow and viscosity, the blown asphalt 75/25 must be heated twice as hot as the softening point. Surfaces must be dry and clean before applying asphalt 75/25 and there should be no loose particles, formwork, curing products, unevenness, slurry, and the likes on them.
