Cutback Bitumen
In plain Language, the combination of asphalt with cement and petroleum solvent is called MC GRADES Cutback Bitumen. To use asphalt at a lower temperature, its viscosity must be reduced. For this, cutbacks are used like emulsions. (Tack coats, fog seals, slurry seals, stabilization material). After applying Cutback asphalt, the petroleum solvent evaporates. So, the remains of asphalt cement residue on the surface. Evaporation of this solvent causes the asphalt to be repaired. The use of Cutback asphalt has increased for the following reasons:
- Environmental regulations.The chemicals used in Cutback asphalt are volatile and evaporate in the atmosphere. Evaporation of water inside emulsified asphalts causes water to be transferred to the atmosphere.
- Loss of high energy products. In ordinary asphalts, petroleum solvents are used and to produce these solvents we should use a lot of energy and also they are expensive compared to the water and emulsifying agents used in emulsified asphalts.
In many places, cutback asphalt use is restricted to patching materials to use in cold weather.
Cutback MC-30 is medium curing (MC) cut-back asphalt with medium degree of volatility. It is consist of penetration grade asphalt cement and diluent. In order to facilitate transportation and consumption we add the diluent to reduce viscosity temporary. Cement asphalt continues performing after evaporation of diluent.
Petrochemical Trade Cutback MC-30 conforms to the specifications of ASTM D2127 (Medium-Curing Asphalt) or AASHTO M82The major use for Petrochemical Trade Cutback MC-30 is in Road repairs where it is used as a bases coat before laying the bitumen surface. This will glue the asphalt layer to the base course. It is usually sprayed using a distributor.
Cutback MC-70 is medium curing (MC) cut-back asphalt with medium degree of volatility. It is consist of penetration grade asphalt cement and diluent. In order to facilitate transportation and consumption we add the diluent to reduce viscosity temporary. Cement asphalt continues performing after evaporation of diluent. To have waterproof membrane, stick the chips onto flat or horizontal roof, and to reduce the effects of weathering caused by sun, we can use Cutback MC-70. Petrochemical Trade Cutback MC-70 conforms to the specifications of ASTM D2127 (Medium-Curing Asphalt) or AASHTO M82a)

RC GRADES
By combining a petroleum solvent of the gasoline type with asphalt cement that is applied to liquid asphaltic we have Rapid Curing (RC) Cutback Asphalts. We have 3 types of RC Cutback Asphalts grades: RC-70, RC-250, and RC-800. By mixing gasoline type of petroleum liquefied with asphalt cement Rapid Curing Cutback Asphalt is formed.
